If youve read my review on The Big Chill, I wont have to remind you of my love affair with food. Ask my parents, ask my husband - hell, ask my tailor who keeps having to alter my clothes due to my ever changing size!
Anyway, since this is a review about Sagar, lets talk South Indian shall we?
My image of sagar began and ended with Shashi Kapoor rendering this beautifully romantic song to Dimple. I now prefer to relate the word to the restaurant.
What can I say that will do this humble yet oh so delectable eatery justice??
The food: Shimbly awezum! :) if I say anything more, it will take away from the effect that these words have.
The price: Since the dosa culture is relatively nascent in North India, I forgive the slightly steep prices of this common man?s fare.
The ambience: I can?t say that a Sagar or Sagar Ratna will win the best architectural/interior award this year or any year for that matter but it?s functional. For heaven?s sake, if I wanted designer insipid dosa, I?d go to the next five star hotel in sight!
So, keeping that in mind, prepare yourself for a basic room with Formica walls and acceptable lighting, the fragrance of agarbatti and marigold flowers and the over-powering smell of sambhar.
All in all, a must visit. Just for good food?s sake. It?s a no-nonsense wholesome eatery.
p.s: I strongly recommend the sambhar ? don?t think I?ve ever tasted something as good.
