At the outset, let me say that this review has been written out of sheer irritation. Today, just some time ago, I got a call on my landline. My wife picked up the phone, and pretty soon I could her talking in an irritated manner.
She was talking to someone and explaining to the person that she did not understand why the person wanted our name and address and why he wanted to know if we were Kashmiris. At least 2 to 3 times she asked the person from where he was calling. The conversation went on for a good 5 mins and the person kept asking things like why she was getting angry and that he would explain things to her
After the call, when I asked her, she said that it was a person reportedly calling from KPA - Kashmiri Pandits Association - this is what he told her. He did not give his name and said he had got our number from a directory and he wanted our name and address to be confirmed and he wanted to know if we were Kashmiris. But when asked, he did not have the same in his records.
I immediately checked for the number the call had come from - 28683854 - This turned out to be the number for Sahara India Financial Corporation’s Kandivli office. At the same moment, another call came from the same number. I picked up the phone and kept saying "hello’ for 4-5 times but no one answered. After a minute, again the call came. My wife again picked up the phone and the caller started with the same nonsense as in the previous call.
Now that we knew from where the call was, my wife again asked where the hell he was calling from. Again the caller said "Kashmiri Pandits Association". Disgusted with this pack of lies, my wife confronted the caller with his correct address and he admitted to the same. By now I was very angry and I abused the guy to no end. While he was asking for the address from my wife, my wife told him, to see if it would scare him, if he knew that he had called the commissioner’s home to which he replied that he knew and did not care.
When I abused the guy, he said that he only wanted the email id. Then I said that I did not want to give it to him and that he should not dare to call back to which he kept saying "OK".
My point here is - I am not against Sahara India Financial and I do not even know if this guy was calling on a personal basis or on behalf of Sahara India. it is unfortunate that I had to write this review under a header for their company. However, I have also given the number from which this call came. They can surely find out, if this is not their doing, who was calling from this number on a Sunday after 7 pm using a wrong name. I want to know who the hell is responsible for this and I want this person to be held accountable and punished for this.
This is not an attempt to defame Sahara but an attempt to make them aware that if they are the ones behind this, I will not take it lying down, and if they are not the ones behind this, then they should not take this attempt by someone to impersonate a prestigious organisation and harass people lying down themselves.
If this was not an official call from them, then let them respond saying so and tell me what action has been taken by them. If this was a call from them, then let them respond on this forum and apologise for whatever they did.
