Well I should have checked mouthshut.com earlier.. Else I would not have fallen into trap of sahara packers...But now when I see.. in fact most "BAD REVIEWS" are for Sahara packers.. among all packers & movers..
I needed a packers & movers for local shifting.. I have shifted on 3rd Jan 09.I got some contacts from just dial.
Then from one of them.. Sahara packers... The marketing guy Manoj came in and gave me a quote after seeing my belongings..He said quote is final all inclusive. After inquiring with another couple of packers & movers.. I gave Manoj a call & asked him if this final quote, no service charges or other charges.. He told "Yes" NO EXTRA CHARGE..
He in fact did not take any advance. On 3rd Jan. I called up their office at 9:15 am was told the boys will be late ( instead of 9:30 as I asked for) they will come by 10:30. as its "TOO COLD" in Bangalore.. so boys came in to work late... ( Hillarious isn’t it. as if we are in Delhi and its too foggy in morning)
Then after repeated follow up, from then onwards, the first guy came in at 11:15 am with limited stuff for packing . Reason given, lorry got punctured.
But when one guy can come in auto why cant 3 guys.. Also I was told others can come only by 2:00 PM. I still believed them..We had done some packing already & we kept assisting him in his work. Then he went for lunch at 1:15 pm. Came back at 2:00 pm Left again in 15 min to fetch other guys & they all came back at 3:00 pm.
By that time "Bhaskar" & some lady at their office started to ignore my calls. They did not even pick up when I was calling. From 3:00 pm onwards.. there were 5 guys in total.. they worked nicely. and all loading was done in 2 hours..
By 5:30 pm they started unloading in my new house & it took them 2 hours to do that. By 7:40 pm.. all unloading was done. These guys were not ready for "Unpacking" & we were doing that work..Now I was told to give 150/- extra as DOCUMENTATION CHARGES..
On seeing that I was furious, then I got the number of some Mr. MODI (the owner of Sahara as I was told) When I gave him a call, he in turn started abusing me and saying as if he has done me FAVOUR by lending his services to me.
He didn’t even say "SORRY" ever.... When I said why I should pay full amount when I did part of packing & was doing the unpacking & rearranging, he said he said he will send goondas to my place & get my belongings picked up if I pay even a single rupee less & even need to pay 150/- extra as it is "STANDARD PRACTICE".
Then I had a talk with Manoj & told him no way I will pay 150/-. He too was abusive ( total contrast to what he was when he gave me quotation) but I persisted & then he agreed that I don’t pay 150/-. Also I made me unpack whatever was left then & rearrange bigger items at least.
That Modi guys said.. he pays his guys so much that they wont ask for "tips" but when they asked me... I knew that Modi guy is not only harassing customers.. but his people as well...To avoid all above hassles and pain ...please beware of Sahara -movers and packers.
