Recently and unfortunately, I bought my first car from Sai Service Station in Lower Parel Mumbai. and I got into the trap of good talk and excellent salesmanship.
I had bought WagonR LXI 2005 model. It is a special edition with the interiors done up in two tone colour. It came complete with wheel caps and the accessories.
It was told to me that the two tone colour was done under the permission and approval of Maruti Udyog Ltd, which I later realised that it is not true.
There were a few places in the interior where the paint had very minor scratched. It was told to me that these would be taken care of before delivery. Never happened. I relented and took the delivery. That was a mistake.
In my first day of driving, I found that I cant fill air in my tyres without removing the wheel caps. I went to Sai Service. First time the sales guy told me to come next week. I went and he said that he will do it in the first service which was due shortly.
Nobody bothered in the first service. They told me that they have adjusted it and it will work now. but it didnt. By that time unluckily I got one scratch on the left wheel cap.
This time when I went, they blankly refused to replace it. The sales manager Mr. Chandra told me that I should have thought wisely and should have opened the wheel caps and kept it in the dicky. What about all the trips that I had made burning all the 50 rupee fuel... How foolish to antagonise a customer just for some meagre 2000 bucks.
My first service experience was not so great. I asked what would be the charge. They said 1200 bucks. Just out of curiosity, I called up Ratan Motors (another Maruti dealer) and I found that it should be Rs. 550/-. Later when I called Sai Service they agreed for the same amount.
All this while they were cajoling me to buy extended warrantee and all the works. The price quoted for extended warrantee was 6500/-. When I said that it seems costly, they said it is the price that Maruti has for all dealers. I called up Ratan Motors again. To my surprise, the cost is about 4500/-. Later when I called Sai Service, I found that the extended warrantee package that they were pushing my throat was their own. The maruti package is of the same price there also.
All these experiences and more so the behaviour of Mr. Chandra while refusing to replace the wheel caps just was enough for me to decide that never will I ever go to Sai Service.
Please be careful with these guys if you wanna buy a Maruti from them.
