My friend(please read my review on Golden Resort, Igatpuri to know more about my friend!) all of sudden felt a craving for home-made non-veg food but didn’t want to enter the kitchen. That’s when my memory came to my rescue and I recollected this place.
How To Reach
Well, it depends on which part of Thane you are coming from. If you are currently at Ghodbunder Road, go towards Thane station, just after crossing under the Majiwada flyover, you will see Navneet Motors on your left. Vijaydurg is right after Navneet Motors.
The Food
This place specializes in home made Konkan style non-veg. What’s also mouth-wateringly, deliciously, yummily, fantastic, is the Aagri style mutton curry and chawal ka bhakri. Aha! You can just go on and on and on. Remember, almost everything here is very pungent but the soul(or sole kadi/curry?
May be soal kadi? or is it sold kadi? I don’t know how to spell it) helps you sail through the rough sea. Well, if you too are not used to having spicy food, it may take a couple of extra glasses of soll(?!) kadi, like it did for us.
The Ambience
It is not plush one but is clean and decent enough to take your family. There is AC section as well as the non-AC one. Both are pretty good.
The Crowd
Unlike the other non-veg+ no-alcohol restaurants, this one attracts a lot of family crowd. And most of them frequent here would be Maharashtrians, especially the ones belonging from the coastal regions. The reason I guess is the nostalgia the food brings in.
Not Meant For
Of course, if you are a vegetarian, don’t even bother going there.
