Cut to the aerly 90s when Sharmila Tagore and Pataudis son was launched in Aashiq Awara. An effiminate looking boy with long hair and a girly voice, who would have imagined that this person would do the most interesting range of roles in mid 2000?And well.. be close the no.1 position that has been well protected by Shahrukh and Aamir.Yes, thats true.As far as performance AND FILMS are concerned Saif outshines even Shahrukh in the past 3-4 years. Its true that he has not developed the habit of producing a blockbuster every year that Shahrukh does but the quality of the films hat he has been part of has been fabulous-Dil Chahta Hai, Kal ho na ho, Hum tum, Salaam Namaste, Parineeta, Being Cyrus, Omkara, Eklavya(about to release)-Look at the range of roles. From playing a upper middle class confused guy in Dil Chahta Hai to the hero of Sarat Chandras classic in Parineeta, from a parsi in Being Cyrus to U.P bhaaiya in Omakara, I think he is the ONLY other actor apart from Aamir who has SUCCESSFULLY portrayed this amazing range. While Shahrukh has been depending on the same lover boy(sorry man) boring roles even now(can he ever play langda tyagi so convincingly) Saif has gone past him in performances.Of course he does not have the huge NRI following which saves Shahrukh every time but he has his share of fans(and they are multiplying).Keep up the good work Saif!!!!!
