Six love stories. one common problem - reel constraints. the maximum Nikhil advani could do in 3 and a half hours when he chose to portray six different love stories was to show their mere script outlines. what he ended up doing is to serve us some half baked characters and even lesser cooked stories. End result - One couldnt relate to any of their problems, really! It seems that this Karan johar assistant [ which he ironically doesnt seem like while directing Salaam-e-ishq ] first decided to have a dozen stars and then tried to write a knotting story [ which itself is cliched occasionally to make the matters worse].
In complete contrast to Advanis debut venture KAL HO NAA HO, salaam-e-ishq becomes comic when it needs to be emotional and becomes forcefully poignant when the audience is in no mood for it. though there were a few nice moments here and there, they fail to make amends for the lacklustre execution.here is an attempt at a Track-wise analysis of SALAAM-E-ISHQ VIDYA BALAN and JOHN ABRAHAM it is no poignant, it is just sheer boredom.ANIL KAPOOR and JUHI CHAWLA lacks sense to begin with. which sexy siren would be seriously interested in an unattractive character like ANILs?GOVINAn SHANNON the same old track; still endearing somewhat. CHI CHI was the redeemimg factor.AKSHAYE KHANNAn AYESHA TAKIA .
The best track in the whole film. Both the actors are in good form.SOHAIL KHANn ISHA KOPPIKAR slapstick comedy and romance cant go hand in hand, Mr. Advani!SALMAN KHANn PRIYANKA CHOPRA here, the lead stars depend on their screen presence and grimaces respectively. but is is not gonna work that way! Music by SHANKAR-EHSAAN-LOY is the saving grace of the film. everything else is dull and tedious. The bottom line - SALAAM-E-ISHQ is partially entertaining, and partially wierd.
