The terrific trio ofShanker-Ehsan and Loy has been fairly able to prove their metal from the timesof Dil Chahta Hai in the inception of the new millennium. Masters in soulfulmelody and groovy dance tracks they have their second album to entice oursenses after KANK this year. The album is Salaam E Ishq which features 6amazing couples and directed by the director of KHNH, Nikhil Advani. Leavingthe information behind, let’s analyzethe music of this multi star flick.
Theextended cover portrays all the stars of the movie in a reasonable fashion. Theblue inlays are successful to pass the right message. The cover is also welldesigned with wanted liveliness. The album kicks off with “Dil Kya Kare” a familiar title ha, it’s sung by the gifted singer AdnanSami. Catchy from the word go, this song has a very silky flow anduplifting melody to support it. The inclusion of English words as usual bySameer in the lyric does not seem clichéd as in other songs because the singeris able to add the needed zing to utter the word. The singer has executed thesong with class and caliber. Overall energy of the song is romantic. Subsequently, “Saiyaan Re” starts with a narcoticsuppressed voice. This song features Shilpa, Shankar Mahadevan & Loy, bombastic beats and Shilpa’s powerful singing puts the punch in the song thatis should contain. Lyric is also formidable; music is an remarkable mix oftraditional instrumentation with the modern synthetic sounds. Mr. breathlessimpresses with his effortless singing in this track. Then we have a romanticdance type number titled “Mera Dil” whichis vocalized by Shaan & Nihira. This is a groovy tune that will beable to make you shake your leg. Lyric is passable but who cares, the fastpaced instrumentation makes the environment vivacious when the song is on. Useof flute is truly evident in this song. Singers also perform their level bestin this number.
Onlyat track 4, we get to enchant our ears with the title track “Salaam -E- Ishq”, big names like SonuNigam, Shreya Ghoshal and Kunal Ganjawala have given their sought aftervoices to this melody. An excellent lyric is very well blended with theclassically modernized instrumentation. Only downside in this song is itslength 7:04 is hardly tolerable. Next on the list is “Tenu Leke”, which begins with the mantra of a typical marriage.Greatly uttered by Sonu Nigam & Mahalaxmi Iyer this song has aPunjabi lyrics in the beginning and the shaadi (marriage) feel to it.Composition is rocking, all set to break a leg. My senses calculate, this willbe the next BIG marriage song, it has the prefect mix of all the ingredients totake the place of no. 1 marriage song in this marriage season. Instrumentationis simply synchronous with the lyric. Consequently, the track that falls in itsplace is the REMAKE of “Babuji” whichis sung by Nihira. The back vocal of “what’s on you mind?” makes youfeel you are listening to a song by the Instant Karma. It has that InstantKarma feel to it. Straightforward melody but good set of percussive beats makethis song a good one to lend your ear to. The lyrics seem to be exact of theold version, but the singer has put on a good show to portray her vocal skills.Last but not the least we come across “YaRabba”. The effervescently written heartbreaking lyric has been vocalizedby “Kailash Kher” in a flawless manner. The slow instrumentation hasgiven the song its haunting quality. The singer performs on all grounds; musicdirectors have selected the best singer for this track and played their wildcards well. Lyrics is also awesome, it seems so true and close to reality.Flute in this song also has supplemented to the overall experience of the song. You are sure to be dumbfounded after listening to this song for the first time, its truly mesmerizing.
Allin all, the first and the last track leave a mark when you listen to the wholealbum. Other songs do carry the SEL magic as usual. This is a notable albumby the three gurus of melodious music. Youare a SEL fan and you haven’t heard to this album yet, then you are missingsomething.
