But kudos to Siddharth Anand for Indianising the story and managing to tug at the audience heartstrings.
The movie starts off as zara hatke with Saif and Preity deciding to have a live-in relationship (Saif’s autobiography??) but Preity gets pregnant and Saif gets cold feet until he sees a sonography of Preity’s belly and sees the foetus moving. Then he realizes ‘yeh to apna hi khoon hai’. But watching his sensitive side becomes a tad tiring for us audience as he starts getting emotional on seeing an unknown kid in the supermarket. Oh, please!!!
Overall, it is an enjoyable movie, the candy popcorn multiplex kind. The treatment is different and the cast is brilliant. In fact the cast helps the movie in rising from mundane to super.
Saif has completed a trilogy of playing the NRI (Nerd Residing outside India) who is always confused to start with but realises the error of his way in the end. Preity Zinta is well on her way to a trilogy of playing the unwed mother. After Kya Kehna, she does the same here but brilliantly. Arshad warsi again has completed a hattrick too of playing the comic side hero. Munnabhai, Hukchal and now this. But the man of the moment is Aby’s baby. It would be unfair to call him that anymore. With roles as diverse as a conman (Bunty…), an underworld guy (Sarkaar), a cop (Dus) and now a blundering doctor he has become Big B II.
Music by Vishal Shekhar makes my dil go MMMMM…
