I did like this movie. ill qualify that with saying I am an ABCD and contrary to many other people, I also like Paheli. Also, I am a preity (and Rani) fan.
With that said, take this review for what its worth to you. A few friends and I changed our regular Friday night NYC partying plans to see this. I liked it. It was different story than the usual bollywood movies with a real world twist. Sarif and Preity work well together as they did in previously movies. Preity did a great job in what I consider a tough role for an indian movie: single, unmarried to be mother. Of course the usual bollywood not really real came into play a few times, but all in all it was quite real.
The comedy part of this movie was hilarious. Even if the plot sucked (which it didnt) the comedy aspect was great. Dont know the guys real name but the indian australian cowboy, hilarious.
One thing I will say is I think its time for Indian movies to have a rating system similar to the Hollywood films. There were several scenes that I wouldnt suggest having young children there and would give this movie a PG-13 rating. So theres one warning, dont take your little kids with you. And if at all possible, leave infants at home.
