Salems Lot By Stephen King is a novel published in 1975. It follows Ben Mears who returns to Jerusalems Lot after 25 years, to work on his latest novel. He quickly becomes friends with Matt Burke a teacher at the local high school and begins a relationship with Susan Norton. Things fall apart when he begins writing a book about the Marston house an abandoned house in the town, where he had quite a horrific experience as a child.
I am a big fan of Stephen King, I read all of his novels. Salems Lot is second Published novel and there is a huge change in the writing style between Carrie and Salems Lot. This is far more polished. I read this so fast that it didnt feel 600-page long novel and there is this growing sense of fear and strangeness and suspense all the way through.
I really enjoyed Ben Meas as a lead character he was quite interesting. Father Callahans Character is also good. There are many characters in this book and I had no problem keeping track of who was who. But some of them were a bit flat and not interesting.
There was a little town building at the start it was felt slow. This novel takes time to introduce all the characters and their backstories. The only issue I really had was the ending, I felt things just ended too abruptly and finished a little bit too easy for everyone involved. I enjoyed some parts and others just dont blow me away.
