Giving up on Lighten Up!

Salon Selectives has a new product on the market called Lighten Up. Lighten Up is supposed to be a combination of subtle highlighting foam and leave in conditioner.

To begin with, this product is a mousse, so it is extremely easy to apply! You just use the pump application to put a golf-ball sized amount in your hand, and apply to your hair where you would like highlights. Then style your hair as usual without rinsing. You discontinue using this product after you have reached your desired shade of hair color, and continue again once it begins to fade.

It is also a conditioner with Aloe. It moisturizes each strand and leaves your hair feeling soft.

Lighten Up comes in three shades: blonde, light to medium brown, and dark brown to auburn.

I have been using Lighten Up for approximately three weeks, and have yet to see any difference in my hair color, even though the bottle says it lightens up progressively, each time you use it, and results should be seen in one to two weeks. There is absolutely no difference in my hair color. This product did not do for me what it was designed to do, lighten my hair by giving me highlights.

The only thing that is keeping me from giving this product one star is the fact that it is a great conditioner! My hair is extremely fine, and most conditioners are way too heavy for my hair, and leave it looking dull, dirty, and lifeless. This is such a light conditioner that it doesn’t do this to my hair at all, and makes my wet hair much easier to comb the tangles from.   It leaves my hair looking very soft, without looking oily.
