Samarkand is one of the best restaurants I have visited in Bangalore. Among restaurants with North West Frontier or Mughlai cuisine, it is simply the best.
Their kebabs are simply delicious. The mutton seekh kebab is just a class of its own. If you choose to go there, do not forget to order a "kebab platter" that has all assorted kebab-s. The biriyani is very good, and so are the different non-veg delicacies like mutton rogan josh, macchi ka salaan, chicken rejala and others. There are interesting stuffed bread items from the North-West frontier cuisine you can experiment with. There is "phirni" and some special sweet dish too you can have for dessert.
If you go as a couple, it may be a bit of a pricey side, but if you go in a group of 5-6 people, you can have an excellent meal at around Rs 350 per head.
The service is courteous and the ambience nice.
If you are a non-veg lover, just dont miss the place.
