I purchased two American Tourister bags paying over 11000 rupees. One flight was all it took for the edges of the bag to come apart. I was shocked that the material used is worse than the street side shops. I took it back to the outlet and they said that the guarantee does not cover wear and tear. I said that if this was the case then what is the guarantee that the bag will last 3 years as per the company warranty. They said the company is only responsible for manufacturing defects.
Now in Europe and the US, I am allowed by the company to return the products if something like this happens and the company replaces the products. So do the shops. Why does the same company operating in India charging similar prices feels that it can give Indians a ride?
I would suggest that we stop buying American Tourister products and tell them that we need to be treated like their customers in the US.
