SAMSUNG - A cheat in the garb of MNC

I really regret not going through mouthshut reviews before buying a Samsung Split AC. However, I am writing this review for the benefit of fellow-MS readers who I hope may be saved from the nightmare of an experience I have had with this Samsung Product.


I bought a Samsung 1.5 ton Split AC in April 2007. Over a period of 6 months I have faced problems 4 times with this product.


Within the first week of installation, the indoor unit started making a continuous loud buzzing noise. After repeated calls to Customer Service, someone came and fixed the blower and the noise was gone. So far so good.


In the second month(May) I found that there was no cooling. The compressor would start but fail to perform any cooling. After 6-7 calls to customer service, the service centre people came and picked up the compressor for repair. They "fixed" and returned the compressor after a week.


Again sometime in July, a new problem developed. The circuit breaker would trip about 5 seconds after  the compressor started.  This time I had worse luck. The service centre attended to this only after 2 weeks, and again they picked up the compressor, "fixed" it and reinstalled it after a week. Later, I was shocked to find that they had done a shoddy job of mounting the outdoor unit. One of the four nut/bolt pairs was missing, and the remaining nuts & bolts were loose. I myself tightened these.


Also, there are supposed to be rubber washers with the nut/bolt - these absorb vibrations and protect the wall on which it is mounted from long-term damage. These rubber washers were gone. I  suspect the Samsung service personnel simply steal these when they remove the compressor for "repair".


I raised this point with customer service but it seems for them such things are not important.


Finally, this month(October) the cooling has again stopped. They have yet to respond to my complaint no. 8404985008 made on 6th Oct.


The Samsung AC has been pretty much useless to me and has given me nothing but grief for the last 6 months. This is my first purchase of a Samsung product, and for sure it is also going to be my LAST.


I now just want to return and get rid of this product. I know they won’t refund me the entire purchase price of 23, 500/- but I am willing to negotiate and accept a lower refund amount just to GET RID of this Samsung AC that has caused me so much pain. It will be worth it to GET RID OF SAMSUNG.


I am also considering legal options against Samsung and their Pune Service Centre - Specular Services, Pune-411040, Tel: 65235476/77.


Thanks for your patience in reading this review and I hope my experience will serve as an example for others to be wiser and just STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG. I am convinced that Samsung is no better than a cheat and a thief in the garb of a MNC. I am surprised that they have been able to survive this long in the market with their pathetic quality standards and service.
