In country like India we have all types of people who are its citizens. Some have house to stay in while most do not. Some stay under roofs while most under open. In such a land I am writing a review of A.C. somehow I feel guilty for using A.C.
As I am sitting on a table right now with a glass window in front of me. Outside temperature is almost 41 and I see small children begging for their life. to come out of this guilt feeling I have voted yesterday. Hope that may change the conditions though it has never so far. But I am lucky to have bought myself an Air Conditioner. Well let me come to the main part of this review.
I was wanting an Air Conditioner for me and my family since long now. Having acheived a position in life where I can afford buying and more importantly running one I decided to go for it. did some research on various options online. several options exist. I made my way following below steps which I felt are logical: - Window or Split: my room has a nice window where I can fit in a window A.C. nicely. although split A.C. are in and happening I decided to stick to window A.C. though out of fashion. - How much tons? though everyone said 1.5 ton is needed and cooling can not happen without this etc.
I decided to do some research on this part. I read some sites where they have mentioned the tonnage needs and measurement equations. my room is a 11x12 roughly. as per the equations I reached to a 1 ton compressor will exactly be enough for this room. however having 1.5 ton would be definitely advantage. so I was in dilemma. but now comes the interesting part. 1.5 ton does cooling fast as compared to 1 ton. this means 1.5 ton will have to stop and start the compressor more than 1 ton. 1 ton compressor will keep working non stop and the restart cycles will be more spaced.
The restart cycles involve electricity flux and are the ones that to some extent are cause of rise in electricity bills. though I dont have a direct reasoning that can prove but I feel 1 ton A.C. shall be less on pocket somehow, both the initial cost and cost of running by some marginal percentage. - Which make? all of them are excellent and nearly provide same features. however EER is a figure to look at. however as a layman EER does not make much sense. So simply look at star rating of the unit. some are costlier then others. I decided for samsung 1 ton window A.C. got it for 12.5k after some dealer discounting. not bad a price. this one is 1 star. so just OK. LG one is 2 star.
Hitachi Quadricool too is 2 star. Hitachi is around 20k and LG nearly same range. At the same time Hitachi is excellent but very complicated in using. - Usage experience: after using the A.C. for 2 months now I can say I am satisfied with it. I received a bill of 3400 for past two months usage (mostly between 9 night till 8 morning continous usage). Overall I can say that if you are using an A.C. you have to be ready to shell out at least 1500 a month extra other wise better not buy one.
