I am very sure very few people in India know that this particular cell phone or model exists. And I am more confident with the fact that there might be only a few people who owns this sexy oval shaped phone. Oval shaped? Oh yes an Oval shaped phone. This is purely a touch screen phone which was launched with the samsung star series. Especially made for music lovers as it delivers the bestest sound quality. I am in love with my phone. Its a real head turner coz Samsungs Beat DJ sports some interesting and well-implemented features, with a good user interface and an amazing sound quality with a beautiful AMOLED touchscreen
THE DESIGN as I mentioned earlier is oval shaped with bright AMOLED touchscreen. The display quality is superb. It has got an accelerometer sensor. there is a dedicated lock key on the left side of the phone which also serves as a dedicated key for music player. It has a volume control button again on the left side. An expandable memory slot(upto 8 gb) and a camera/switch button on the right side. when you keep pressing the camera button the switch menu is activated. The menu consists of call, music player, messages, browser, main menu, games. This option can be used to either jump from one menu to other quickly and during calls. A 3.5mm jack is provided so that any speakers can be connected as the output machine.
THE CAMERA, all I can say is WWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW! has a 3.2 megapixel 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, LED flash camera . If you have this phone you will never need a digital camera and thats a bet. you can shoot amazing pictures. and those photos can surely give complex to many 5 megapixel camera phones available today in the market. there are many options like Geo-tagging, face and smile detection. ill upload some pics taken from this cell if I can. The videos are also good while shooting from the camcorder.
THE INTERFACE. only 3 buttons are well placed to receive a call, disconnect a call and to go back. The touchscreen interface is good but it can be polished a little more. You can drag widgets onto the home screen to display things like photos, media player controls or upcoming events. Its all very flashy and customizable, but sometimes it can be fiddly. On the home screen, swiping your finger one way brings up the full menu, while swiping it the other way brings up a feature that allows you to tag people in photos, and contact them by tapping the image.
THE SCREEN. Photos and videos look very good on the Beat DJ, thanks to a bright, beautiful, 2.8-inch AMOLED screen, which ups the awesome level by being as bright and thin as an OLED screen while consuming less power.
MUSIC. This is the main feature that I would like to share as the name of da phone itself suggests BEAT DJ. The Beat DJ includes Bang & Olufsen ice power audio gubbins. gives you a crystal clear sound both on loudspeakers and earphones as it has 5.1 surround sound effect. There is an inbuilt DJ system which you surely wnt find in any other mobile phones. You can SCRATCH an ongoing song, echo the song, put it into an infinite loop and do many more Dj things. I had used this function during the 31st dec. and it rocked.
There is bluetooth, which gives a good performance. It has radio, games, gps, etc
There are a few cons to this amazing phone though. The battery life when on standby or on calls is 1 - 1 and a half day. Its pretty ok as it backs up the power for the amoled screen. But whats dissapointing is the back up for AUDIO and VIDEO. The battery backup is merely 3 hours for music and video.
A microSD memory card is a must-have, since the Beat DJ has only 50MB of internal memory. There is no option of messages to be saved in memory card. also the max capacity of message storage is 500 messages. Also if you use too many applications at a time the phone tends to hang.
Even though there are glitches in this phone I am very very happy with this cell. The Samsung Beat DJ benefits from a lovely screen, unique appearance and a good range of features. The DJ application is superb with its innovative use of gestures and the touch-sensitive area below the screen and the Beat DJs not expensive, so it could be a good option if youre seeking a funky-looking touchscreen phone. The phone looks much better in reality than in photos.
