First what to do if you buy this phone:-
Take off the protective cover on screen. The performance of the touchscreen will dazzle you after you do it. And its TFT touch resistive so no need to press hard on the screen, a flick will do most things.
Download the free opera mini browser, the inbuilt browser does not compare with the opera mini 5 which works like a dream on the corby.
Download a free Mp3 player called KD player from getjar again. Download directly from the phone browser as its difficult for novice users to install new applications from your computer to this phone.
Thats all you need. And presto, you will love the samsung corby pro.
What will you hate and how to correct them(if they can be corrected) ie.
You will hate that the moment you call anybody, the phone locks the touchscreen and you have to manually unlock the touchscreen functionality using the side-key.(its an awesome key, helps by never letting a call getting dialled when your phones in the pocket, or starting some app without your intending to.) The way out; Use headphones. The ones supplied with samsung are meant with the same purpose in mind and once you use them while making a call, its a dream.
The scrolling of the touchscreen when you are searching for a contact. The screen is either too fast or too slow depending on your finger speed. The way out; Search for a contact, - fast results, or simply use the volume key. Problem solved.
Internet connectivity: Unless you have a 3G connection, dont expect this phone to do wonders. Connect it to a wireless connection and then see what it can do. It performs as fast as a computer browser. Speed is limited by your service provider.
4, All downloads happen via the pre-installed dolphin browser, which really doesnt match after youve used the opera mini 5. (really hate this)
- No business apps whatsoever. The document viewer is basic, no editing, only zoom and cant take big files. >10MB.(hate this too)
After all the above, the decision:-
The phone will be extremely fun to use with the Qwerty keyboard, messaging has never been faster or simpler. same for emails, social networking and internet browsing. Awesome camera quality, and a good desktop suite(sasumg kies), make this a worthwhile product to buy. This is not for your business needs, it wont help you at all in that direction, so dont consider it for that. The music quality is more than good, as are the earphones. The problem expected is that like other samsung phones its battery’s probably gonna run dry within the next year, and the sliding keyboard might create issues with the speakers due to internal connections.(These 2 may happen after a year odd of usage).
