Samsung Duo 259

I was searching a good Dual Sim CDMA+GSM mobile phone. I was already aware about Samsung Duo 259, as we have seen on the Television. After doing a research on the internet, I had decided to go for LAVA KKT 30. I also went to a nearby shop and checked few other mobiles like Videocon VC 1425(Rs 5000) and Micromax(Rs 3500). Then finally I decided to go for LAVA KKT 30. In the morning when I landed in a different shop where actually the model KKT 30 was available, he showed me a qute model of Karbon(Rs 4800). The Karbon mobile was tinest among the lot and I love small mobile phones. Finally my friend was with me and advised to go for a branded one and hence I opted for Samsung Duo 259 costing Rs 6500 more than the budget. Some features about all the mobile phone that I learnt about i.

Videocon VC 1425

  • Good looking

  • Tripple sim CDMA+GSM+GSM

  • Dual standby only works with 1GSM and 1CDMA(as informed by the shop keeper)

  • VGA Camera

  • upto 2GB

LAVA KKT30

  • The best looking among the lot. The model resembles a ferrari mobile(as told by the shopkeeper)

  • Dual SIM? CDMA+GSM or GSM+GSM

  • This mobile also seems to have Dual SIM standby facility simultaneously.(NOT SURE) But I ready somewhere on the net.

  • Dual Speaker

  • upto 8 GB

Karbon

  • 0.3 megapixel camera

  • Shake function(the shopkeeper was boasting about)

  • Tripple SIM 2GSM+1CDMA at a time

  • Torch, thats missing in all other phones of this catagory.

  • upto 4 GB

Samsung Duo 259

  • Good Looks

  • Brand value

  • Has a feature to choose the SIM Cards while making a call.

  • Supports upto 8GB

  • Heaviest among the lot

  • No option to Silence the ring when we dont want to receive the call. I mean, in any mobile if you click the disconnect button once, the phone stops ringing but the person on the other side feels that the phone is ringing the person is not picking up the phone.

  • Auto Power On function doesnot work in the Alarm. Also there are many options in other Menu that are grayed. No idea.

  • No option to select Micro SD card as default memory.

  • 1.3 megapixel camera. Spice mobile is giving 12 megapixel now and samsung is yet at 1.3. Though other mobiles might have more megapixels but at Rs 6500 you atleast expect 2.0 megapixel. So camera not upto the mark, for name sake.

  • The keypad lock is irritating as it locks every 5 secs if you are idle and that too at any stage which navigating or giving phone number to your phone it gets locked. There is no option to increase the time limit. Also the Keypad lock patch or popup doesnt go if you need to check any missed call. You have to unlock the phone to check if there is any missed call.

  • I am sure all the other above must be allowing you to upload ebooks. I tried to open a pdf file saved in the Micro SD card, it gave me only option to transfer via bluetooth.

  • I tried to play videos .avi and .flv files. Forget about opening, its not showing on the card. May be I am still learning.

Till now this much, if there is anything else, I would definitely edit this review.

I have written this article pertaining to CDMA+GSM phones only, please dont compare this review with any other GSM+GSM phone. This review is only for people hunting for Dual SIM phone where CDMA is a must.
