Purchased this phone for our son. Less than 2 weeks later, it refused to reboot. The splash screen would pop up, then it would say at the top, Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock in little red letters, then it powers down.
Tried chatting online with a Samsung rep on their website, and they said that the J2 must be in International Model, because my model # didnt show up in his system. I bought it in Iowa; whys it an International Model? He said I had to call Samsung. I thought I WAS talking to Samsung!
So, I called the 1-800 number for Samsung, gave them the model #( SM-J200M UD) . They said I had 2 options: 1) take it to Best Buy to the Samsung tech there, and have them reload the firmware( which is NOT available for me to download), or 2) see if the place I bought it would exchange it.
I called the I-wireless place that I bought it from, told them what was going on, and gave her the model #. She said, Is it a Black one? I said yes, and she said I could bring it in to exchange it. I said, Youve seen this problem before? and she replied, Yes, but only on the black ones. Wow.
I had to have the original box to exchange it, but I did exchange it for a gold one. Phone seems fine otherwise, but I would recommend not buying a black one until they get whatever bugs are happening in manufacturing with those worked out.
