Not worth the money spent

Got this phone around in 2016 for around 45K thinking it will work for next 2-3 years flawlessly. Worked great initially, had a good display, sound quality was good, camera was excellent. Then the battery became weak after 6 months or so and I had to charge it frequently which was manageable. Just after 1 year when warranty got over, the phone screen developed a purple dot at the bottom right hand corner. I had never dropped the phone, never put it under undue pressure or exposed it to liquids which are the usual reasons for this supposedly. But yes, the purple dot became a patch with 2-3 days which then started spreading like a disease across the screen. Within 15 days, the phone screen became totally black.

I went to the service center and asked the reason and they gave the same ones which I listed above. I asked them about warranty and highlighted that there is no physical damage. They asked to keep it for examination. After 2-3 days, I get a call from the center that the screen has to be replaced and it will cost 10K to repair it. Nothing is under warranty now. I asked after repair how much warranty can you provide, which they said was for a mere 3 months. I researched on internet and found that this is a problem with many high end Samsung phones apart from the usual explosion we hear in news. There is no guarantee that the same screen defect will not come back.

I took back the phone from service center and approached a Samsung dealer for selling it along with the job sheet from service center. They had a look at it and said this model is no longer in production and we have to spend money to repair it. We can give you 1250 INR after inspection. I laughed at them and said I will better throw this away or give it to my nephew to play rather than doing this.

So guys, please be aware. My recommendation, do not buy this phone. The flagship models that Samsung bring out are having many issues it seems based on my conversation with the service center guys. People keep on coming there for costly repairs.

P.S. I recently got another brand new phone with similar or better features for 10k and happily using it knowing that I do not expect it to run for next 3-4 years.
