What is an international version?
An international version item is a product not originally intended for sale in the U.S. They are also known as import models or international models. Depending on the country of origin, international versions of a product may differ from domestic versions in their default settings, packaging materials, language on packaging and instructions, AC adaptors and plugs, accessories, manufacturer warranty or other features. These products come in original manufacturer packaging but were intended for sale in a different country.
Why you might want to buy something not originally intended for sale in the U.S.?
In some situations, the international versions can be less expensive than the U.S. version. The difference in products across borders can be immaterial in nature, but for various reasons the merchants abroad may be able to offer the same item at a better price. You might also want the international version if you plan to travel to and use the product in the country where it was intended for sale or if the international version has different features that you prefer.
Why you might not want to buy an international version?
International versions might have plugs, adaptors, settings, or other features that are not compatible with standards in the U.S. Also, some manufacturers might not provide a product warranty for international versions of their products purchased in the U.S., or use of the products in the U.S. might invalidate the products’ warranties. You should carefully review the product information for an international version to ensure you a purchasing a product that meets your needs and expectations.
