Disappointed with build quality of Galaxy S3

For this review, I am attaching the email I sent to the CEO’s desk on the Samsung website.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone on March 31st, 2013 and within five months of use, cracks have developed on either side of the volume button. These cracks have developed from normal day to day use, and at no point of time did I drop the phone.

I initially got in touch with the Samsung customer care helpline. The representative spoke courteously and directed me to the local Samsung service center.

I found the Service Center staff to be polite. However, the service engineer after investigating my phone declared that the cracks had developed due to the fault of the customer. To make matters worse, I was told that the display and the body come as one unit and that I would have to pay Rs 7900 for a replacement.

How am I to prove that the cracks developed due to day-to-day use and not due to faulty handling?

Please don’t think of this email as another message from a ranting customer. Having used a HTC One V, I was quite impressed with the software on the S3. However, it is obvious to me that the quality of plastic used on such a "flagship" device is clearly not up to the mark.

Samsung has already sold millions of units across the globe and I doubt whether this email will ever reach the CEO’s desk. If it does, I would urge you to look into your quality control system.

Needless to say, I cannot recommend Samsung products to anyone.

Sincerely,

I did a quick Google search with "galaxy s3 case crack" and found a number of users complaining about the same issue. I had bought a flip case along with the phone.
