MIB: Deliver the Galaxy Y!

I was using a BlackBerry Curve 8520 before and that was my company provided phone. When there was a need to get a new phone for my personal calls, I was really confused on what to pick... Some said Androids are the latest ones and some said I should go for Windows phones... all tech geeks bombed me every time with their technical knowledge and I was totally confused.. Then I decided to take the call based on what my heart says and since I personally like Samsung products, I decided to pick something from the same brand and after a thoughtful consideration I picked this phone.

In my honest opinion this Samsung S5360 model is like a younger cousin to Samsung Galaxy S2. It has got almost everything what Sam Galaxy S2 has, but in a smaller, cost effective package. I was told that this smart phone supports – 2G & 3G network (HSDPA 900 / 120) with 180Mb (internal memory) and you can have a micro SD up to 32GB. Additionally you’ll get Wi-Fi, Hotspot functionality, 2 MP Camera with the resolution of 1600*1200 pixels, Micro USB v2.0, TFT screen, A-GPS Support & Bluetooth. OS is Android V.2.3.5 (Gingerbread). Apart from this, you have Quick Office, SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email etc & pretty manageable battery life. Sometimes you may not able to hold the phone and few times you’ll drop it as well, because of its super smooth body. If it’s S2 it’ll never work (Believe me, one of my friend dropped his S2 model and it never came up after that; read the same in many reviews as well) but here the back panel and the battery will come out; but the moment you insert and fix it, déjà vu.. It’ll work fine without complaining.

Now the cons.

You can’t expect a performance of a Dual Core 1.2Ghz processor in this. Things are little slow when compared to it bigger sibling S2; Not that it’ll happen in a blink of your eye but yeah may be after 3 – 4 blinks it will (LOL). Whenever you feel it’s too slow, you can use the ‘Task Manager’ option to kill the applications that are not required but running in the background and that’ll reduce the load on the CPU & RAM which will eventually increase the speed. Speaker quality is damn poor. I still wonder whether they have fixed the speaker unit in my phone or not! Ease of use: Samsung has to learn a lot from Nokia on that... Damn, for opening a SMS or to dial a contact, you need to do multiple clicks... I hate it man.

Finally this phone is suitable for those who are looking for a smart phone and have plans to use most of these above mentioned options and gaming - "OCCASIONALLY". If you are hard core gamer or a Hyper speed person looking for ripping all the options then this poor phone can’t support and that’ll lead you to frustration. Believe me, it’s a trust worthy old lady with a heavy makeup and not a teen. So choose wisely & live better. :-)

Other info: I paid around 7700/= in Hypercity (Hyderabad) and this includes a onetime Insurance of Rs.300/=.
