It was february 2009 and I was expecting that prices of LCD may rise after budget. So I decided to buy it in mid-feb itself. My budget was around 15-17K. After lot of research - I zeroed down on Videocon, since LG and Samsung are always expensive. Time trusted brand and since we were already using Videocon Bazooka for 12 yrs, I had no doubts about its quality. It was Sunday and I had already made up my mind for Videocon 19inch LCD.
On phone, dealer has informed me an approx cost of around 12K well within my budged. I went to the showroom, and, just when I was about to finalize the deal - I had my eyes on this sleak beauty - Samsung Series4 Model. I asked the dealer for this price. He said its very good quality product - priced at 20K for 22inches. However, there was some discount scheme going on, so he said my final price would be around 18K. I started bargaining hard and finally came down to 16.5K. Thought that we are already using Videocon, lets try Samsung this time. So bought it (model - LA22A450C1 ) and withing 2 hrs it was at my home.
Now, im not a techie geek and cant explain much on features front (infact, I think all of them have almost same type of features, plus or minus 1-2). Ive been using this LCD since last 5 months, and never had any problems except once.
Last month my LCD suddenly stopped working. It was not even starting. I called up customer care and lodged the complaint. And immediately got the SMS with my complaint number. Customer care guy took 3 days to come to our home (and we actually grumbled on him for being so late). He looked at the LCD and said he need to replace some spare part not available now. He went back and came after 2 days with the spare part. It was the motherboard on which all the components sit. He changed the mother board and my LCD was perfect like before.
One more thing that I would like to say - its sound quality is very good, but volume is not very high. Dont know if thats a problem, or, its a feature with all the LCDs. However, since we are using Tata Sky DTH, its set top box amplifies the audio, so we never had sound problem.
Final Verdict:
Except this one issue above, I never had any problem since 5 months of usage. Its controls are elegant and quickly responsive. Its sleak, ultra light and easily fits on the wall. All this backed up by prompt customer care of Samsung, and, its a good buy for first time LCD buyers looking to upgrade from conventional CRT based televisions at reasonable cost.
