(This is my first product review ever...hope you guys will pardon the flaws)
I had a 29 inch CRT flat tv
Upgrading it to a 32 inch will not make much diff in screen size but the LED feel good factor may make me happy
Believes in the policy the bigger the better, but if I need an LED with a 42 inch I need to spend at least 60-70k which is much more than my budget
sincerely believe, investing huge amount in electronic gadgets is simply waste of money as you will be outdated within couple of years from the date of purchase and if at all you can exchange your gadget you wont even get 10% of the original price.
So the search went for cheap and best big screen a great value for money product ...anyways as plan B I had reserved my option as Samsung UN32C5000 (led)
Started reading about Plasma (one of the ancient technologies ever) started to dig into the merits and de-merits over lcd’s, the burn-in was the most highlighted issue about plasma but found out that newer plasma tv’s are seldom prone to these issues as they have improvised the technology. the second issue was power consumption Plasma had almost double the power consumption of LED’s ....so I started doing the math, LED with lesser power consumption will sure save some money on electricity bills but I will end up paying 5 times more as initial investment for buying it, so decided to vote against the power consumption factor.
The second thing is the picture quality , most of the reviews reveal Plasma is better than LCD and is almost par with LED the blacks in plasma is usually superior than the other both technologies.
So started checking for Plasma flat panels ended up hearing good reviews about samsung 43D490 which is 3D ready (active) went to check out in some showrooms the store guys were pushing me to take LCD/LED, as I was determined on buying either PN43D450 (without 3D) or PN43D490(with 3d) I started bargaining with them as it was Christmas day there were some spot deals in the store and we finalized the price on D490 at 38k .
the first thing I tried was to connect my 500gb external drive to the usb port since the store guy was not sure whether it will read the ext hdd but D490 took it with ease nd started playing all the formats .mkv, .flv, xvid, divx I could play all the movies in the hdd. was really stunned by the picture quality when playing hd videos...enough said listing out the pros and cons.
Pros:
great color and better Blacks
Good sound (10w RMS x2) but will need external sound system for great movie experience
can play almost all formats ....My media player is not needed anymore
excellent vfm product.
Active 3d but havn’t bought the glasses yet
Cons:
Only one USB port
The 3d glasses are expensive
