Samsung mobile - unreliable

I purchased the N500 model of Samsung in September 2003. I am using it in Mumbai. Everything was OK for one year.

Lately it is causing a lot of trouble. Quite often it shows ’’Limited service’’ and I have to restart the unit (as suggested by BPL mobile - they know about Samsung very well !). When I make a STD call, the call automatically gets cut off after 2 or 3 minutes.

When I get a long distance call, I am unable to hear the callers voice most of the time, the disconnection after 2-3 mins happens anyway. Even local calls are missing quite often. The battery is another headache. Have to recharge it daily.

Now about the service. I have searched most of Mumbai and could not locate a Samsung authorised service centre for this GSM unit. There are local repairers who cannot be trusted. The user manual does not give a list of service centers. None of the contact numbers given by Dealers are working now. Most of existing service centers are closed.

Basically Samsung is concentrating on other products unlike Nokia, Ericsson who are mobile companies. So there I am, left with a 6, 500 Rs mobile absolutely unreliable and with a poor service backup !

I can’t even sell it off with the existing defects. So when you need to buy a mobile, go for one made by mobile companies like Nokia, Ericsson, ... Unless you only want to store phone numbers and play games !!!!
