The Samsung X427, currently being offered by Cingular Wireless is not exactly the phone I was hoping for. When I first got it, I thought that it wouldn’t be too bad. I wanted the Samsung S310 instead but I didn’t have the money at the time. The pros: The battery life is great! It lasts I say aorund 5-7 days. The screen is very vibrant and the pages are easy to navigate.
The cons: First off, there is no external Caller ID screen. This may not seem like a big deal, but it gets really annoying after a while to have to get the phone out of my pocket and open it. This may seem like it isn’t hard but compare it to slide part of it out of my pocket and press a side button and theres the time on the screen.
This con may seem lame but believe me, it gets annoying after awhile. Next, the ringtones on this phone SUCK! There are 11 ringtones total on this phone. 1 is the standard one, 2 of them are regular rings, 1 is the waltz of the flowers (which isn’t bad but im a guy and I dont want that as a ringer), and the rest are these semi-okay tunes. But what makes them bad are these stupid voices that are the beginning of each one of them.
One says ’’1-2-3-4’’, another has a crowd cheering, and another has some lady making these weird noises. Oh, and there is a tone called ’’Happy Birthday’’. It sound absolutely NOTHING like the song you sing at birthday parties. Now, I could buy new ringtones but I don’t feel like spending $2 on a ringer. (I probably will end up doing this because I really hate these ones.)
Finally, there are 2 games on here. The first one (X-Flighter) is a basic flying game where you don’t get hit. I can not get past level 1 for the life of me so I gave up on that one. The second game (SpaceWar) has absolutely nothing to do with war. You have to make boxes with your plane I guess and fill the screen without being hit by enemies.
These may seem alright, but my main problem is that they provide NO instructions on how to play them. (Or they are hiding them really well.) It took me a few weeks to figure out what was going on with SpaceWar. When you go to get a phone from Cingular, please don’t get the X427. Spend the extra $80 or whatever it is to upgrade to the better phone.
