You really can't ask for more at this price

It has been a week since I got my new Samsung Slim. Here are some facts about the product.

For the price that it comes I must say that its extremely functional product. You can call it a no non-sense product. For the first time user of the cell phone, I think you can’t ask for more than this (just like Nokia 3310). For the users who are migrating from high end GSM phones to Samsung Slim (because of attractive tariff plans of Reliance), I must say you will have to lower down your expectations.

Its monochrome display is quite neat and tidy but is nothing compared to the high resolution colour displays that we are used to these days. The screen size is also not that great with only 2 lines of SMS visible at a time.

The amber back light is different but I dont know if its better than the traditional ones. The red light for button sucks though and makes it look real ugly.

Although the phone manuals and advertising reads a lot of fancy stuff about the ringtones, they are pretty ordinary compared to new generation polyphonic phones nevertheless the number of tunes that it has is quite large so you are bound to find which appeals to you.

For me one of the important features in the phone is navigation. Samsung Slim has pretty decent navigation, although Nokia users will have to adjust to the horizontal menu.

The feel of the buttons is extremely good and the response time is also less, so you get what you want almost instantaneously.

As far as look go, although this has been projected as USP of the product, I must say my friends did comment about it resembling to the toy phones. But nevertheless it is different from what you normally get these days. Vibrator is tuned perfectly I think.

But the biggest dissapointement that I have from the phone is that Tunes and Vibrator don’t play together, so you can miss some calls.

Its been a week so far and it has hung once, which I think is normal for CDMA phones.

The biggest worry for CDMA phones is the battery life. I have tested it without charging it for 2 days and must say it lasts quite well for 48 hrs or so for a normal use (around 2hrs of talktime in that).

Charger although is bit bulky but atleast troublefree compared to those flat ones which use to come with LG initially.

All n all I must say for the price for which it comes a good buy.
