No spares.

I purchased a Samsung SW75A1S model of fully automatic washing machine about 5 years back. Now its body at one side got rusted. I contacted the service centre requesting a change of cabinet as the machine was working fine but had got tilted due to rusting.

To my surprise they did not have a single cabinet throughout the country so ’regrets’. Explanation given was that they keep changing models and spares may not be available of the older ones. That means the buyer should spoil the equipment quickly and buy a new one.

Previously also I had a lot of trouble in getting their service people to attend. The rates are high and service best not said about ! The machine was good till things don’t go wrong. The plastic lint catcher itself costs Rs. 450 and add the service charge to it ! You are down by Rs. 900. Samsung service itself is faulty and costly and the company’s motto is to sell and forget, let the customer buy a new one ! The exchange price offered to me for my machine was Rs. 1000, I guess the local ’kabariwala’ would have offered a better deal.
