After my very good experience with Samtron 56 v from Samsung, I hung on to the company’s product line and exchanged my Samtron 56 v for 510N TFT LCD monitor. The monitor comes packed in a very convienient packaging, therefore it is easy to carry from the shop. it is only 3 kgs or something.
Installation is easy although I found that the base screw requires some work to fix it securely. After lot of sweating and shoving I was able to put it on my desk. To connect the monitor comes bundled with D-SUB cable and a power cable. be careful to check the right side of the D-SUB cable goes into the monitor and computer. Power cable goes into the UPS or whatever power outlet.
I powered up the computer and the monitor was instantly recognised. There is a CD included with the monitor. There are some very useful software: Natural Colour and Magic Tune. These help to calibarate the monitor and adjust the brightness, contrast, colour temparature etc. These are more or less easy to use depending on your level of computer expertise.
My initial reaction to the monitor after getting it up and running was, it will take me a long time to get used to the LCD TFT exeperience. It does take while to get all the adjustments correct. It is vital to switch on the Clear Type on (available in Win xp). Pictures are sharp once you have adjusted the coarseness, sharpenss and colour tone. To check this open a picture in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and check if you like it. If you don’t you have to make further adjustments, but don’t get too ambitious!
Overall I have had a very good experience with the monitor and I am going to keep it for very long, It cost me a lot more, almost double of what I paid for 56v. For movies you will need to buy at least a 19 inch monitor since the response rate is better on these for watching movies.
