Ergonomics: The fone is well built and has a 3.7" Super Clear LCD screen in front. Under the display there are three buttons i.e, Call Accept, Call Reject and Menu key. Keys are easy to use. On right side there are dedicated Camera button and Lock key and left side has *Volume Rockers. *On the top you will find standard 3.5 mm jack, speaker and charging port(USB charging supported). On the back side there are diamond shaped 5mp auto focus camera and a flash. Build quality is excellent. Only gripe is the back battery cover is extremely sleepy. Earpiece and Proximity sensors are above the display.
Basic Features: Signal Reception is good. The In-call Clarity is very good through the earpiece. Ringtone sound intensity is commendable. Display is Super Clear LCD type and it is just beautiful with excellent viewing angles. Performance under direct sunlight is also better than many other high-end fones. Phonebook is standardized and SMS capacity is 1300. U can make separate folders to save sms categorically. If ’on’ the I-Reports get stored in Inbox which is little bit annoying. Battery back-up is satisfactory though I think it is less than original Wave. Anyway, I was able to squeeze 1.5 days with 40-45 minutes calling, 3-4 sms, around 1hr of listening to music, 2-3 sanps etc; Better than any Android fone. Supplied USB cable is good and ’USB Mass Storage’ is a breeze to use and PC sync is done by Kies. This fone can suppport up to 32gb External Memory though memory card is not hot-swappable. There are 5 Profiles* but u cant rename them and also cant make any new one. There is a Flight Mode too. It features GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-fi, GPS etc in Connectivity front and all work well.
BADA OS: Capacitive Touch is excellent. U can have 10 separate Home Screens for different purpose along with some nice Widgets(eg. Note, Calendar, Photo Contact and many more) which are configurable. Dialpad is there for quick dialing or saving contacts or checking ’over the air’ balance, validity etc. The standard Alpha-neumeric keypad* is fantastic to use. Turn the display while writing and u will get a full QWERTY keypad for using both hands. Feedback is good. There is a Turn To Mute function.mean to say, If u place the fone upside down, the ring tone of any incoming call gets mute. There can be maximum of 10 Menu pages which are side scrollable. Another very interesting feature is that u can lock ur sms, pics, contacts etc. with own password.cool isnt it?
Organiser has standard functions like Calendar, Memo, Task, World Clock, Calculator, Converter *etc and they work flawlessly. Alarm is also there. There is a Samsung browser for GPRS and it works fine. Applications include *Timer, Voice Recorder, FM Radio *etc. Radio reception is very good but u cant rename the Stations.! Radio Recording is a wonderful feature. Some games are there too.
Multimedia: Viewing pics in such a big display is great. Gallery is a standard affair. To get full screen turn the fone on either side. Accelerometer of the fone is excellent. The Music Player is nice and though u wont have any cutomizable equilizer presets, the Rock preset give good balance of bass and treble. There is song sorting based on Album, Artist, Genre, Playlist etc. The supplied Handsfree is good. But 3rd Party headsets are recommended. 5 Megapixel Cam has autofocus and shoots Macro very well. Daylight shooting (particularly outdoor) is excellent. There are many options like White Balance, Exposure Variation, Resolution, Scene Modes, Effects etc. to play around and the touch interface works very well. Indoor shooting is above average. Video recording is 720p with 30fps and it is amaaaazing. Video Player supports 720p, mp4, 3gp etc and videos look stunning in the screen. Mosaic Search is a unique feature of this video player. Overall multimedia performance of Wave II is excellent.
Conclusion: This is one FLAWLESS phone in the market. I used it for two months and did not face a single problem. It is fast, does not hang, stylish, good to hold, has advanced features and gives solid performance. It is a premium device. Samsung Wave was a trendsetter. This does not disappoint too. It has become cheaper recently and the price is Rs. 15000/- approx. The only cons is Application Store. it has very limited games and applications compared to Apple Store, Android or even OVI Store. Many free apps and games have become paid. This is pathetic. Anyway, I can assure you that you will never regret with this fone. It is better than any of the Android fones( from Samsung, HTC, LG, SOny Ericsson etc) or Nokia Symbians in this price range. GO FOR IT. GET THE POWERHOUSE.
