There is the advantage of price that first attracts one to Samtron 56v. I had to give up my 1997 Microtek monitor that gave up the ghost after faithful service for 5 years.
The Samtron 56v does not require any complex installation. just plug in and connect to the computer and you are on your way.
After I upgraded my computer to Intel Pentium IV, the graphic card had more memory than my earlier Motherboard. So I was able to use it at the maximum resolution of
1152x864 without trouble, ofcourse there is some flickering it is really not a nuisance.
The control panel on the monitor requires some getting used to as there are some complex adjustments possible. But if you just want to adjust the brightness and contrast this can be done with ease.
The monitor however is no longer in production. I think it ceased production in 2004.
However, I wrote this review as a gesture, for its faithful service. Sentimental stuff but there it is.
The flat screen TFT monitors that are available today consume less electricity and the display geometry is reported to be lot better than on the the CRT monitor.
However, picture quality is certainly better on a CRT.
