This ninja is something

I joined mouthshut recently and one of the first things I wanted to write review on was Samurai Jack..just ’coz I love it so much..and it struck me hard to find that it didn’t even figure on item lists..got it included and here it is..

When this series was about to go on air, the promos said...’’if this guy does not fit your definition of a hero, try to change your definition’’...or something like that..couldn’t be true-er , I later found out when I saw the show..

It was unlike any other thing I saw in animation..ever..true, every show has got it’s own sense of saying things but most often than not there are some underlying similarities...this show is league apart..first of all character animation is very unique..it’s like another school of cartoon art form..they seem to be drawn by some child who was let wild..at the same time they are so masterly...all that is oriental is shown in a different light altogether...bamboos, those triangular-sloped-roofed home, extensive use of red, black and some very soft shades..all so classy and original....at times everything will just stop and one can hear rain drops, against bamboo forests..samurai waiting for a rival..and suddenly action....there is beautiful use of slow motions..something John Woo would be proud of...any body who dig those unique, almost dramatically choreographed sequences of KILL BILL series will feel at home here too, sans the blood , of course..

music is one plus too...again it’s very differently used..and used well...title tracks are a beauty..

everytime I watch the show , it feels this show doesn’t belong here on Cartoon Network..it can make a good prime-time viewing anywhere else..got the right mix of all emotions, all mildly presented for obvious reasons...

This came to me as no surprise that this show won the Emmy for best animated series..it deserves it, is all can say.

My advice is ..go watch this show..with a very open mind...expecting everything but nothing at the same time..know what I mean........and if it does not fit your definition..try changing it!

The samurai moving away after destroying yet another rival...his robe tattered but not moving..only feet giving away the movement..a solemn look in his body language..the sad feel of not being able to return to the place where he belong..again...but the resolution to give it his best try yet agan.......awesome

how I wish he never returned....

Jack rules...
