''Draught'' of a Beer...

Long time ago, I guez sometime in 1995, when KF was the default which came to people’s minds when you said ’beer’, a new brand was launched as ’the champagne among beers’...’’Sandpiper’’. And to tell the truth, it really was worth the hype it generated at that time.

Finally some serious challenge to KF was on the anvil. This one was mellow and light as a beer should be and tasted gr8 too...apparently it had everything going 4 it and nothing could go wrong...so what if it had only one brewery in the state of Haryana which by any standards way back in 1995, was one of the most beer guzzling state in the country.

Well all the while, Murphy was waiting to strike!! Horror of Horrors! In the blink of an eye, one fine morning sometime in 1997, Haryana went dry and prohibiton was in place! The only brewery Sandpiper had in Haryana had to be shut down. That was a sad day for guyz like us who had come to relish Sandpiper’s fresh new mellow taste.

Well things went the ol’ KF way(not that anyone was complaining!! Its the best beer the country has got now!!).

Hope revived sometime in 2001 when ’’Sandpiper’’ was revived by UB of KF in a new garb and logo. However, it is no longer the beer launched so many moons ago as a potential challenge to KF. The taste has definitely changed and cannot match KF. Even the new packing and logo are drab and unappealing. I guez UB really didnt want anyone switching loyalities from their race horse KF. Well alls’ well in luv and war I guez. But defunitely it would have been better if Sandpiper were not revived by UB. We atleast would have remembered it as a tough little cookie which had its 15 minutes of fame in the sun....

well life goes on I guez!!
