Have you ever eaten a sandwich the expiry date of which is passed? if yes then what kind of after effects you had by eating it? I am sure you must suffered from food poisoning or bad stomach. Same is the case with this expired and out dated sandwich I mean film, after watching it I felt that I am getting sick mentally and suffered through brain posisoning.
Wow ..Anees Bazmee of super hit like Pyar to hona hi tha (Ajay, Kajol) and 2005’s biggest block buster No Entry has directed Sandwich, thats why I dared to watch this film despite of several warnings through many reviews on internet, but I feel like to go the other way and also I like Raveena Tandon and her glamourus and spontanious personality since her first film ’Patthar Ke Phool’.
But what I got was a HUGE headache at teh end. The film is not that bad but actually good in first half but turned into an unbearable flick right after the start till end during second half because of Ekta KApoor’s kinda plastic surgery scenes and turning of the villain into the second Govinda because of the surgery to complete his sinful aims.. this twist was a huge letdown that damaged the whole film.
Like ’Gharwali Baharwali’ and Saajan Chale Susral, this film also tackels the two wives issue, but it goes a step further by showing the same faced kids of Govinda from the two wives, and I must say it was a joyful experience watching these confusions, but again was totally destroyed just due to the faulty script in the second half.
The film took 5 years in completion and the name has been changed from hum do humara aik to Sandwich. Directionwise it doesnot look like a film that has been directed by a genius like Anees Bazmee. Screenplay was good in first but was bumpy and jerky in the second half. Songs are totally forgetaable except the one picturised one the two ladies ’Mera Sajna Nikhattu’.
Performance wise Govinda is as usual with the same comedy style and timings. Raveena looks as glmourous and pretty as usual and played her most playd character in her movie career i.e. rich modern girl. Mahima’s performance was good and she portrayed a punjabi woman with conviction.
Overall Sandwich is an outdated and late film and you can watch it only at your own risk if you are a hardcore Govinda or Raveena’s fan.
