Fraud ! Identity theft !

In recent past I had an account on one of the matrimonial platforms, found it useless and deleted my account their.


But recently,   I started getting messages and email alerts from sangam.com about recent visits to my profile and matches. I thought only my email address and contact has been sold as database. So ignored.


Today, when I checked by following the call to action in their email alert, I am shocked to see my complete profile has been sold to Sangam.com by the earlier matrimony website. Same profile pics and information that I had uploaded on the earlier website were mentioned there. I do not recall signing up with them ever. Do not have any registration email from them.


May be the owners are the same and they do not actually delete your account details and use it by trapping you with a different company name.; or they simply sell the account details to other parties.


Gross violation of the data rights and probably amounts to identity theft. I am going to file a complaint with relevant authorities. If you would also like to voice your concern tweet to @CyberDost or find the relevant official from the following link and send them a detailed email.

Edit- Found out that Sangam.com is an associated website of Shaadi.com. They create alternate profile on Sangam.com. Though nothing in their terms and condition indicated that they can do this. The customer care executive on their chat option said that a notification come while registering for Shaadi.com, if you want to register for Sangam.com as well. If you ignore it, they take it as your acceptance. I checked this by creating a new profile and no where such a notification or alert came. When informed this back to the executive, she conveniently the chat by saying that she will check this with the concerned team. I had not ended the chat and kept pinging them but no response. Came to know that she left the chat by the chat transcript I received on email.


Going to delete Sangam.com as well as Shaadi.com account now.
