I went to Sankalp restaurant thrice in last 3 years. I dont live in Ahmedabad. Hence, I go to this restaurant when I visit the city. 3 years back, I went to the Sankalp restaurant at C. G. Road. I was totally satisfied by the food and the service. They presented everything well and the service was awesome.
Last year, we visited the restaurant at Gurukul. The service was decent but they had increased the price drastically. A normal size dosa would cost Rs 65/-. An utthapam would cost around Rs 75/-. I was shocked at this kind of pricing. I would have believed the price if it was in a star hotel. I live in Bangalore and hence would try to compare the price and quality with that in Bangalore. Still, the experience in the restaurant was good.
Our third visit was on the evening of Diwali 2008. We entered at around 10:30. They stop taking the orders at 11:00. The waiter in the restaurant was showing too much of attitude as if he is doing a favor on us by taking down our order. Though he still had around half an hour to take the order, he insisted that we place our order fast. He was not polite enough to let us make our selection.
All the dosas had more salt in it. We complained about it and the manager replaced the dosas. That was the only good part. But I expected some better quality in this guiness record holding restaurant.
The waiters were in hurry to wind up. May be they wanted to rush home to spend their diwali night with their family. They did not have courtesy to serve water in the empty glasses even after we requesting it. The idlis were not so soft. They did not look fresh.
Our diwali dinner got too boring because of this.
I would not suggest this restaurant to people because of the items are too costly as compared to the quality.
