Sanyo 1.5T Window Air Conditioner

I dont know what happened to my earlier review on this - So I am redrafting entire stuff.Possibly I did some foolish stuff while saving my latest comments on it.

Anyway here is the Review on the product.

I purchased Sanyo 1.5T window airconditioner from a local Dealer in Chennai.

I dediced on this brand of AC after a lot of search on No Frills and No fuss AC - but has good value for money. I dont want to go by out of use fancy items but I wanted a fully functional AC which cools my Top floor bedroom in CHENNAI :-)

I walked into live showrooms where you can see live performance of AC’s for two weekends and shortlisted O-General, Hitachi, Vediocon and Haeir.

While Hitachi was superb, its too costly - Vediocon was giving good offer - but has less credibility.suddenly I heard of an offer from Sanyo on its AC - to the tune of 30%.

I researched and found out this simple but excellent machine. The purchase process, delivery and installation were smooth.

Now comes Review about performance:-

It was installed in Febraury 2007 - ie just as Winter was receding. I dint use AC much. Nevertheless whenever I used, it was good.

Here comes April - May - Chennai heat and humidity are too much - and as I told, my bedroom is on top floor and is close to 375 SFT. Still, the afternoons and nights are pleasent with this AC.

Some of the Pluses I found with this AC:-

1. Extremely good Value for money - You cant get a Japanese Brand at 16K

   
   




2. Superb Performance - I can rate it on par with Hitachi and even better than OGeneral

   
   




3. Very quite but excellent throw. When you get up in night you wont even believe if AC is working

   
   




4. Functional Remote - very simple and even in mid nights in half asleep position you can set time, change mode, increase or decrease temperature, set timer for putting off on etc.

   
   




5. Good Choice of Modes - Dry mode is useful in the evenings when climate is sultry and Humid, Auto mode anyway is there if you dont want to meddle with remote. The turbo mode is like heaven - imagine coming back from office in the late evening to a sun soaked bedroom and getting the room cooled within 3 minutes using the Turbo Mode.You wont need turbo mode on other times . but when you really need it.its like a blessing.

   
   




6. Power bill - Definetly Plus - I used an other brand(but yes - old) AC before this. This AC is far more power effecient - I cannot compare other new AC’s - but then this I felt is very good. I observed that the thumb rule is 1 Rupee per hour with 4 People in bedroom

   
   




7. Simple features like timer, sleep mode, auto off, auto on are not just good to have but over the period of time you realize that they make AC usage a good experience

   
   

Minuses:-

1. Not so popular brand - Your neighbours will confuse it with Assembled piece

   
   




2. The advertisements for the product come in TV. But of all - I dont understand why Sanyo decided to air the commercials in POGO channel - You got it right - POGO - the kids channel

   
   




3. The Air Filter can be removed for cleaning only after taking out the outer frame of AC- Somehow I felt I cannot do this on my own. Nevertheless the technecian who did this for us during first free servicing said after a couple of servicings I should be able to do the cleaning myself. I remember seeing other Japanese AC’s providing with slider filters. May be sanyo should look at that option

   
   




4. Not available in leading stores. I dont know why - but Window model is not available in premium stores. The brand is available only in second rung stores. May be it will take some time .
