This is the opinion that I’ve been putting of for literally months now, because of the sheer amount of features to explain. I have said earlier in my reviews,
’Necessity knows no law’.
I would expand on the proverb and rephrase it by saying,
Necessity knows no limits.
Man wanted to fly he developed an Airplane. He further wanted to reach the stars so he developed rocket. A local proverb says necessity gives rise to inventions. Necessity to talk to a distant person resulted in the discovery of Telephone. Then we got irritated with wires and wanted to get rid of then gave rise to wireless communication technology.
Today mobile phones have become a part of our lives. Cordless phones are at the extreme end of redundant necessity. I call it a Luxury. Well this point is refutable. But this isn’t a place to debate so I take back the claim and do what I’m here for. Funny thing is I own one of such luxury. Sanyo CLT-5980 is not just a cordless phone but a cord less phone with a speaker. The system comes with,

Separate Speaker Phone and Dual Keypad
Hands free Speakerphone is included on both Cordless handset and base station. Keypads on both handset and base station are illuminated. The dialing keypad on both units serves as two telephones. It can be used as an Intercom or 2-way Pager. You can use them to sing loudly as well. Don’t worry about the noise.
Noise Reduction
Noise level in the system is low. They claim that Super Commander IV, the fourth of Sanyo’s original noise reduction technology filters out background noise. I agree with them because I have experience amount of noise on other cordless phones. The Cordless telephone uses radio communication between handset and base. Other devices like TV, VCR, and other cordless might cause a disturbance or noise during the operation. To get Best performance and maximum operating range Extend the antenna to full extent, Keep unit away from electrical appliances such as TV, Radio, PCs. Choose a High, Central location.
Auto Scan
This phone is equipped with 10-channel auto scan. Meaning 10 channels are available for your cordless to choose from. Each time you place a call on handset it chooses one of the 10 channels, which can be switched during a call by a provided Channel button. Thus the phone gives an extended operating range
Backup System
Major disadvantage with Cordless is in the case of power failure. Since this phone runs on power supply our call is cut off in between during such failure. The unique Power Failure Back Up System feature allows to place or receive a call on the cordless telephone during a power interruption of up to 48 hours. You require 4 medium sizes 1.5 Volts alkaline batteries.
Standby Time
When batteries of handset are fully charges cordless offers 21 days of Standby time, i.e. the time in case of no usage of phone for receiving or making calls A fully charged set gives a continuous 12 hour long talk time. In normal usage case recharging is required often. Replacement battery number is SANYO 3N-270AA.
Security Code
A security code can be set from possible 10, 000, 000 codes available to help prevent unauthorized use of your telephone line by other phones. Code can be reset easily by placing the handset on the cradle and pressing INTERCOM button within 8 seconds.
Other
Apart from above mentioned features it has plenty other like Memory function to store phone numbers in speed dial memory, Intercom facility, Speaker volume control etc.
Sanyo is prized around 3000 Rs. I also had a better look at Panasonic model. It has answer machine facility with 2000 Rs increased. I did not find any cons in this one. It is now over 1 year old. Want a good value for your money then trust me and go for it.
