Sarkar Raj – A cinematic metaphor of POWER and POLITICS
I refuse to accept that the life is larger than the legend himself.
The inevitability of any sequel is comparison. The iconoclast is one who defies the idea that sequel cannot be better than its predecessor.
Perhaps RGV would have been iconoclast if Sarkar Raj(SR) had secured more marks than Sarkar. Nevertheless, SR still has especial in its usage of camera, streaks of scripts and definitely a powerful portrayal of characters by everyone and especially by great sexagenarian.
Today, it’s impossible to find a review which fails to identify weakness in any of the part of the whole. The reason could be many things but the neo-fad is perhaps because of comparison, perhaps too many movies to judge, perhaps personal animosity, perhaps every critic suffers from some or the other way from identity crisis, perhaps "Tall poppy syndrome", perhaps, perhaps and on….
But certainly neither they are always right nor they are always wrong but this time most of them are monstrously mistaken because of perhaps the vicious circle of there own image similar to what SARKAR( Big B) suffered in early 90s when he celebrated his second coming to cinema after a self imposed sabbatical .
The fault may be lies with our excellent capability to find patterns(it’s a proven psychological research), we tend to find pattern in every thing we see and deal with and the reason is to make lessen our effort in decision making but that no way proves that we are right!
Let’s break this notion for next couple of minutes and try to look at things without pattern and the comparative faculty of our unconscious mind.
The characters portray life and are symbolic of various life giving adjectives power, politics, democracy, thought, relation and many such threads from the fabric of social structure.
When a critic writes a critique it’s not necessary to have a predicament of complex inextricable perceptive of cinema but a analysis of where the chain is strongest and that where it can be made stronger and not the other way.
There is hardly anything in this world which can be termed as absolutely white or absolutely black but certainly there are things which look blacker than other, but we need to focus equally on what looks whiter than the other.
