Abhishek Bachchan rocks!!

Finally AB’s baby - as he is fondly called - has come on his own. And that too in a film in which he shares the screen with none other than the legendary actor-father Amitabh Bachchan.

Sarkar to begin with should not be compared to The Godfather even though the director candidly has called it as his tribute to the Mario Puzo masterpiece.

Sarkar in fact is more local in its approach and bears resemblance to a certain political family as we all know.

But that apart, Sarkar as a film has its own identity. It is indeed one of Ram Gopal Varma’s best films ever.

But then again I have liked all his works. Even Daud... yes!!!!

Sarkar too like all his previous films boasts of great performances. Right from Mr Bachchan to Kay Kay to the guy who plays Rashid with his menacing eyes...

Katrina Kaif in a miniscule role manages to leave an impression but Tanisha on the other hand disappoints.

the first half of the film starts with establishing the character of Sarkar i.e. Amitabh Bachchan - who plays his age quite gracefully.

The second half of the film is where the turning point comes in and so does the brilliance of Abhishek Bachchan.

Having just returned from the US in the first half, Abhishek is nothing more than a spectator - a silent character. But when the onus turns to him in the second half, he shines and how.

His performance is not only controlled but also manages to move you. Especially the scene after he metes out justice to his older brother.

Abhishek could perform was a fact that was evident right from his first film Refugee. all he needed was the right kind of film to showcase his inherent talent.

And Sarkar gives him just that platform. I’m sure after this there will certainly be no looking back for Abhishek Bachchan...
