I was in chennai for a 4 month course at Pentamedia Graphics Ltd, one day my friend gave us tickets to go to Devdas in the theatre Studio 5 which is one of the five theatres in the multiplex, after entering initially we could not find the way to the theatre as there were many ways, finally we go there, I was take aback a little after noticing that the theatre had seating capacity of not more that 120, it was really small, after a the movie got started, we really enjoyed the sound clarity and the ambience and the airconditioning of the theatre was
excellent, then started my affair with Satyam Cineplex, and I dare say that I have watched 90% of all the english and hindi movies that have come to Satyam Cineplex. Some of the movies I really enjoyed there are, Devdas, Armaan, Ishq Vishq Pyaar Vyaar, Matrix Reloaded, X Men 2, The Core and quite a few telugu movies.
The Theatres
There are 5 theatres, Satyam, Shubam, Santam, Sree and Studio 5, out of this Satyam is the biggest, the next 3 are a bit similar, and studio 5 is the cutest of them all, the ambience takes you into another world, there are people of all origins, and its a treat to the eye if you are a bird watcher. When you are entering the balcony of Sree, you will be surprised to find carpet on the floor and sofas on either side of the way, all the balcony seats are plush rexin, you are 100& comfortable in them, the airconditioning is superb in all theatres, The sound system a treat to the ear, in one word satya cineplex has all world class features.
Note: If you are planning to watch a movie at satyam, and are used to buying the highest priced ticket available, dont go in odd numbers like 1, 3, 5 etc, cause the seats are 2 seaters like sofas and the issuer doesnt give tickets.
Ticket Counters.
There are 5 ticket counters that start issuing tickets from morning 9 to night 10, the
advance booking of the tickets is really nice, we may take a ticket for any show for the next 3 days, which make it very good if there is a new movie and you have the fear of missing out, there are never huge cues, the tickets are given very quickly. Its good to see that they use LCD for monitoring the availability of tickets.
The Canteens
My favourite, the canteens are a must visit if you go to the cineplex, you have all the
routine stuff, however I have got two things on my menu that I must have whenever I go there. One is the cold coffee, it is really good, the second is the butter popcorn. they are priced at 20 and 15. Warning : You cannot stop with having one popcorn, so beware you may gain a few grams if you are a regular.
The Staff
The staff are really good mannered, all have intercom, so all are well communicated. Even the persons in the ticket counter reply with a smile when we ask them how the movie is.
The Parking
This is the biggest parking lot I have ever seen, I never had trouble taking my vehicle, its very spacious and as a result of that we can get out easily.
Other features
Star news recently aired a report stating that Satyam Cineplex was the best equipped cineplex to handle fire hazzards in the whole of India, and asked all the theatres in Mumbai, Kolkatta etc to follow suite.
Final Word
If you are in Chennai dont miss this cineplex, if you cant go to the theatre to book your ticket in advance just call them, they will door deliver the tickets to you. And if you have arrived at the theatre very early and have got 1 or 2 hours to the movie showtime, just take a auto and ask for Spencer Plaza (i will have a review on that soon), just go there roam about and come back, Dont pay the autowala more that 15, if you have got lots of time, walk ! its even better.
You are doing a great job Satyam , Keep it going.
