Whatever I am gonna write is my personal journey with sathyam cinema complex rigth from my school days till now ..i am working for a software firm in chennai.2007
let me start , the year is 1989 or early 90s where I saw the first movie called "home alone" at that time it had just three theatres namely sathyam, subam , santham... I still can remmber the beautiful circular stair case which one of its kind in the theatres of that time...i think liked many other when compared to sthyam complex those like devi complex , and the madras( chennai’s erst while name) biggest theatre of that time "alankar". One of the best theatre for hollyword movies was stil , sathyam.The place where it is being stiuated is in the heart of souh chennai , me on the other hand was residing in the north part of the city convence from my home to theatre was like journey which will take min of one and halh hours , but my dad as kind enough take his good old lamby 175 cc and mke me stand in the front because the journey was so long I migth fall asleep and I migth fall down...we would ideal start after school at around 3:30 pm after school for show of 7 o clock show which we call matinee those days, so our journey starts me and my dad alone for english movie , u migth think why me and my dad alone? even I have the same question ..
I dont know the answer yet , after a hot tiffen at any one of the tiffin house like "Woodlands Drive in " being the favorite stop , I still remmber I liked the urad dal bonnda being my favorite....i think I have shifted along way from telling about the satyam cinemas rigth .....but that made me think , whether the cinema hall in itself is best or the process of going to the cinema is better than hall? the answer according to me is both wins....i find me actually lucky to born in place where the quality of the cinema is more appreciated than even the megastars themselves.. I never mean to say that there is no stardom in tamil industry ..there are but the stardom is very elcusive and restriced to the big BOSS and arguably the india ’s best actor ...my home town has plenty of great technicans than any other part of the country, I never mean to hurt any one but trying to state the fact let be musical maestro or the cinematographers or the art directors or directors....these are comprises a good cinema ...but there all the hard work will go to the end customers i.e the audience ...if and only if there is good and quality cinemas like sathyam complex....
the sathyam cinemas have grown leaps and bound from three theatre from the three S’s to add Sree to this league , that time there was no theatre like that kind in chennai ofcourse I can compare with mumbai as I did not know abt it....but to my world it was the best in the city ...but it came witha price ....In addition to this sathyam was the first theatre to completely drive away the black market in the city which was a welcome step for all....
with even the ticket counter beng aircontioned , this complex have the india’s first RDX digital picture quality the technology developed by the DSP processor"DLP" king chip maker TEXAS INSTRUMENTS . which does not have any more hassles ith the film role it has films downloaded from the statelite to the main hardisk in the projector with security number in order to prevent the prevalent priracy....the interiors any how awesome comparable to the mumbai’s versonava...it cant be more expalined in words it has to be witnessed ..it will be visual treat.....
Audio as usual have all the latest in the sound feild just like in the hollywood theatres all doblies and DFX etc etc...
one of the most importan thing the cinema is visual, audio and the most important ambieance ( which includes the seat)...as I have finished the first two things by the line, coming to the third important.... as I spoke to one of the manager in sathyam as I was curious to know abouth the seat it is a very good leather uphostery nice in color with brown tinge gives the natural look for the seat ....as I have experianced myself one of most comforatble seating that i have ever sat......and the leg room is one of the best thing abt the new theatre they have build namely the studio 5 and 6 degress and the new refurbished one subam has been changed to "seasons"......i really cant resist to go any other theatre....now when I went for the latest POC 3 .... I was dumbfounded by the 14’ inches monitor before each urinal closet ... these marketing manager are too good than even during the time I go for pee my eye should see there ADs ....nice way of marketing... you would have never heard this kind of marketing in any part of the country.
after all this ...according the whole cinema viewing experience is enchanced by sathyam every time I visit their theatre .....
for me the word "theatre" has been replaced by "sathyam " in my vocabulary...
