Indian Politicians - Beware

Full marks to all cast for their performance, especially Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Manoj Bajpai. The same cannot be said about the direction.  The movie does have a few heart moving scenes but overall fails to leave an impact.

The song “Raske bhare tore nain” picturised on Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor does not suit the mood of the movie. If one had been dedicatedly following Anna Hazare’s anti corruption movement which involved series of protests through fasting, you will see it being captured with Amitabh as Anna Hazare and Ajay Devgan as Arvind Kejriwal.  Then follows the drama of how it picks up pace and political parties take interest in the campaign for political gain.

The difference here is that Amitabh gets killed in the end and Ajay Devgan carries on the fight inviting people to join politics to make Amitabh’s dream a reality by providing political reforms & corrupt free government.   The drama in the movie seems shallow and plot weak at many places which fails to impress you and does not leave an impact.

The story in brief, Amitabh is a retired teacher - his son Akhilesh, is a lead Engineer.  Ajay’s parents pass away when he is small and due to his good friendship with Akhilesh, is brought up by his family.  Ajay grows up to be a successful businessman. Kareena plays a journalist. Akhilesh, who works on National Highway project gets killed in a road accident.

Manoj Bajpai plays the role of a leading politician who announces Rs.25lacs to be paid as compensation to Akhilesh’s wife – Amrita Rao.  Amrita is harassed while following up on the disbursement of Rs.25lacs. Her father-in-law – Amitabh this time goes to follow up and in the process slaps an official which lands him in jail.  Ajay realizes that he is needed in this situation as he is obligated to Amitabh and joins in the fight against corruption.

Arjun Rampal is a bahubali  who has enough local clout and joins Ajay. The rest is what we watch everyday on our news channels. The movie tries its best in portraying the reality but it has filmy/dramatic touch at many places which fails to leave an impact.

There is hard work put in the making of this film by all. Nevertheless, in the end you will realize that there was nothing in the movie you have not seen before and that there were well directed political thriller movies better than “Satyagraha” released in the past.
