I am from Hyderabad and a regular user of Sify dial-up connection for the past 3 years.
For the 1st year, the service was excellent with connection never being lost, and a download speed of almost 4Kbps durin afternoons (higher at nights). But then slowly (I guess due to over flowing of users) the speed started coming down.
Nowadays, it has become so bad that during afternoons, the speed in just a couple of 100 bytes(0.1Kbps) and constantly decreasing. After 20 minutes are over..there is no reply from the websites I connect to. I have to reconnect again, and this again costs 2 bucks.
Night time isn’t any better, and the only consolation is that connection remains alive, even though speed is in 10s of bytes. The main problem is more users on the same bandwidth. I would be happy if sify buys more bandwidth.
Also, they have recently withdrawn the scheme of free night surfing and sunday surfing on the Rs. 700 pack(100 hrs). I use sify mainly for the free night surfing. Now I have to seriously rethink abt continuing with sify, as there are many new ISPs coming up, with more reliable and faster connection speeds.
