The DADA - He Dares

I am not surprised that the majority of the people in India would hate him like anything.I am not surprised that he has brought in a few youngsters who are superstars today.I am not surprised that he can singlehandedly sledge the Aussies back.I am not surprised that he has been very effective as a captain scaling new highs.I am not surprised that he is the centre for attraction for the media to scavenge upon.I expected all these from Saurav Ganguly.

Saurav Ganguly is someone who dosent fit the traditional type of player, we would like to be.He knows he is an entity, and does not like to be treated less than that.Unlike other players who would love to play safe(I am speaking off the field), Sauvrav believes in meeting the devil eye to eye.He is aggressive, carefree and throws caution to the winds, and all these traits help him to take quicker decisons and implement them with the same speed. If Saurav had been able to induce agility to the side, bring new and exciting talents, generate working rejuvenations, form a cohesive side(All horrendous tasks in Indian Scenario), it is due to this rough approach to his tasks. No other captain would have done what Saurav did, as he single handedly took the ICC and BCCI, and resulted in forming the ICPA.But, our people and press would not like such aggressive people and are inclined to write them off. However Ganguly has been so rough that many people have gone out of their position to mingle him in many other contrevorsies say Nagma, Sachin and a few others. But Ganguly is deaf to all the comments, as he rightly should be.He has the amazing belief in his ideas and approaches, and makes no compromises whatsoever in them, a quality very hard to find among many Indians.

All the same, I didnt expect Sauvrav walking in late for the toss.I didnt expect Saurav to have some verbal language in the ICC Final too.Sauvrav should be very careful not to be carried away. The line between arrogance and agrresiveness, the line between self pride and egoism is very very thin, and it is easy top jump over the lines.Saurav is too good a captain, for India to lose.

Surely Saurav Ganguly has been a reveleation as a captain, never afraid to experiment and I would dismiss all the baseless allegations of bias towards players, ego problems with Sachin as dambsquib.

Saurav is worth his weight in gold, but he isnt weightless in areas other than captaincy too. When on groove, he would be the worlds most feared batsman, and we have seen it in Taunton, Colombo, Lords and at many venues at many times. His gift of timing and wide range of off side shots suit him to both the major forms of the game, and he has got an convincing record in Tests and ODIs.He is more than an utility bowler, and no one can forget his bowling exploits in Toronto.I think he should bowl more, with Robin Singh also away from the side.He is not a bad fielder too, though he needs a little improvement to make the Indians more agile on the field. He has taken many match winning catches in the past, as well.

Throughout his career, Saurav Ganguly has been bothered by lean patches, but he has been able to rise to tremendous form everytime and make amends.Even he is in poor form, he is worth a place in the side for his captaincy alone. He is surely worth his weight in gold.He is one captain who leads by puling and not by pushing. The Dada is daring enough
