Hello dear friends, How are you guys? Actually I clicked on Saurav Ganguly hoping to read a review but to my surprise found that there is a request to write about him. So I thought I will pen my thoughts of our famous Indian cricket captain. Anyways it has been a long long time since I wrote any review.
Friends, I am just sharing little knowledge about Saurav, which I gathered recently after reading about him in a couple of websites and also discussing it with one of my colleagues who is also a bengali and stays close to where Saurav and his huge family stay in Calcutta (Behala to be precise). Saurav stays in a huge palatial house there where all his family members including his father’s five brothers, their wives and children totalling to about 50 persons stay together. Shows that joint family culture has not yet died!
I don’t much about cricket and probably won’t be able to discuss Saurav’s game or his style but then I must admit and others will also agree with me in saying that Saurav has emerged as a very good and successful captain not only in terms of ensuring lot of victories in tests and one day cricket games but also in building and honing skills in his team members whether it be Sachin Tendulkar or Mohammed Kaif. I beleive before Saurav retires, he should imbibe his leadership qualities in his successor so that the Indian cricket team does well and plays as a strong united team for the country than for personal victories.
On the personal front, Saurav is the son of the illustrious and wealthy printing business magnate, Chandidas Ganguly. Saurav has an elder brother, Snehashish, who also played cricket for West Bengal. Then as we all know Saurav is married to his childhood sweetheart, Dona (Roy) Ganguly, who is an accomplished Odissi dancer. There’s has been a strong love marriage which also had to face opposition from Saurav’s family during their initial days of courtship. But all is well that ends well. Today Saurav and Dona are proud parents to a lovely daughter, by name, Sana. There were also rumours of him having an affair with film star Nagma, which had made quite headlines. I am saddened to even mention the same and to even think about it. Hope there are no more such stories in his life in the future.
So friends, I put my pen down. That is all I know about Saurav. I would be glad to know more about him if somebody else also writes on this popular cricketer. and I am really glad that I got this opportunity to write about Saurav as he is one of my most favourite cricket personalities. I wish him good luck and all success and fame in his future endeavours.
