Even after being buried in the grave yard he came out like a DEAD MAN..he was burnt to ashes but still he arose..and this time so invincibly!A perfect example of Optimism, Fighting spirit..if somebody observes Indian cricket closely, he is going to see the difference in the so called team India he led and the wet cats of today..If somebody compares the Indian team that went to Australia before n after gangulys reign with the team wich was led by ganguly he will come to know what difference he made to indian cricket!i still remember the humiliation india received in Australia in 1999 tour both cricket wise and in terms of respect india got from the cricketers n the public in OZ.I still remember somebody throwin shoes on Venkatesh Prasad in 1999.
Even the 2007-08 tour to OZ is no less when it comes to the amount of humiliation. All this depend a lot on "WHO your Captain is"..When dada led his team to OZ there were similar speculations..n it jus started to happen in the 1st innings at Brisbane..india had lost quick 3-4 wickets..then dada single handedly changed the outcome of the series.Had he not played that innings that very OZ tour would also b like the others..subject to humiliation..Its not because of nothing that the great OZ captain Steve Waugh respects ganguly so much..He has faced him several times and he knows well and admits that he is probably the best captain he has faced..Dada came out to captain at a time when india lost Azhar n Jadega who formed the strongest pillars of indian batting.
The young stars like Yuvraj , Harbhajan r shining today because of the confidence and hunger instilled by dada..His Aggression, His optimism, his crave for win, his belief in his players and his command on them was what made the UNDER DOGS the DOMINANTS OF THE CRICKETING WORLD at one point of time
