Saurav Ganguly, the present Indian captain is one of the greatest and most stylish left hander the world has seen since the debut of Brian Lara and it is for his sheer elegance and class that no one can match the left handed Ganguly in contemporary cricket.I feel he is the best thing to have happened to Indian cricket after Sachin Tendulkar.Ganguly looks to me a commited and courageous cricketer who has his priorities right and he is a prime example of what one can achieve if talent is combined with diligence and the right attitude.Ganguly has what it takes to be a great cricketer and I am one of his greatest admirer.

BATSMAN:He is an exceptionally talented batsman and a effortless stoke player.I love his play coz he is an exciting and exhilarating batsman who can tear apart any bowler on his day.His timing and placement is impeccable.In the words of Ian Chappel’’Ganguly is an artist when it comes to timing and placement’’.He does time the ball beautifully without putting any power behind it.What I really like about him is that he knows his limitations and plays within them.But if he is a wonderful batsman he has his share of flaws too.His running btw the wickets is poor and he often tends to get the other batsman out.I also feel he is quite impatient and throws his wicket at times.Otherwise Ganguly is a classy batsman and I try not to miss his play.
CAPTAIN:He seems to be doing pretty well as a captain.I think he is quite shrewd and intelligent and has a good cricketing brain.The strong point of Saurav is that he looks determined and aggresive on the field which unfortunatly people tend to take as arrogance.He is often accused of being a arrogant person with loads of attitude but I feel he is got the killer instinct and is quite encouraging and good with his team mates.He leads from the front, his body language is positive, backs his player well and has a cool head on his shoulder.What else do you expect from a captain?I think he is doing perfectly fine as a captain and we should give him time to establish himself as a successful captain and not blame him for the teams failure b’coz you do not win or loose a match coz of one person.It is always a team effort.
FIELDER\BOWLER:Well I cannot say much here coz he is a pretty ordinary fielder.I have often seem him misfielding and dropping catches on occasions.He looks sloppy and lazy at times.Actually the Indian team does not boast of a single great fielder but since Saurav is the captain he should work on his fielding and improve it as it will encourage the other players to be more alert and active on the field and give their best shot.
Ganguly is quite a handy bowler too and mixes his balls well.I think he should be used more often as a bowler as he is surely capable of taking wickets.
With all the talents and hardships behind him, Saurav surely has come a long way and emerged into a wonderful cricketer and if he works on some of his flaws he will emerge into one of India’s all time greats who played on his terms and entertained the nation.
He seems to be playing well in the South-African series with two centuries already and I wish him luck for the FINAL and I hope he brings home the cup this time.
